Helping one of their own: Berners search for Trixie (video)

If you ever doubted Bernese Mountain Dog owners were as special as their dogs, that thought was put that to rest Sunday afternoon (2/8/15).

“Trixie”, a one-year old being fostered by the McHugh family of Westtown, PA, bolted out the front door on Friday. Since then the family and friends have searched high and low for the dog, plastering the area with more than 500 posters, using social media and alerting area officials and agencies.

And on Sunday (two days later), even more folks showed up to help. Organizing via Facebook, email and texts, a group of Bernese Mountain Dog owners from southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, who regularly gather at Valley Forge for a monthly walk, instead headed for Tracey McHugh’s home to join the search for Trixie.

In all, 17 Bernese Mountain Dogs, one West Highland White Terrier and their owners scoured the area for hours. Trixie was not found today. But the search will continue amid the hope that someone will see her and alert the McHugh family.

Watch the video above for the full story.

Thank you Eileen for making this great video. There are lots of groups helping to locate this little girl. We may have our differences at times but the one thing we have in common is our love for this breed and our fur babies. We all hope she is found soon and is back safe with Tracey. Prayers to her safe return.
